Why CCCTS?
Christ.... through the cities, to the world.

CCCTS exists to prepare Christ-centered leaders academically, professionally and spiritually, in order that they may be equipped to address creatively and effectively the needs and challenges of urban communities and society at large.
Charlotte Christian College and Theological Seminary (CCCTS) was founded through the vision of Dr. Eddie G. Grigg, pastor and educator, who believed God was calling him to establish a theologically conservative evangelical institution for training Christian leaders in the heart of the city. With the support of friends and the partnership of New Life Baptist Church, CCCTS began its mission in 1996 to prepare men and women for faithful service in ministry and in society.
Dr. Grigg guided the institution through its early years, leading CCCTS to secure degree-granting authority in 1998, welcome international students, expand its library, and pursue national accreditation with the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS). In 2002, the seminary relocated to the Whiting Avenue campus through the generous gift of Whiting Avenue Baptist Church, and later, in 2019, moved to its current home on East Independence Boulevard. These milestones reflected the seminary’s steady growth and adaptability in fulfilling its mission.
Throughout its history, CCCTS has remained focused on equipping Christians to engage the urban world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. From launching distance learning in 2013 to broadening degree programs to prepare believers for both ministry and marketplace leadership, the seminary continues to blend biblical conviction with practical training for today’s challenges.
In 2025, the Board of Directors appointed Dr. Christopher E. Harris as the institution’s third president, following the decades of faithful leadership of founder Dr. Eddie G. Grigg. Building on this strong foundation, Dr. Harris leads CCCTS into a new chapter of growth, advancing its mission to raise up biblically grounded, Spirit-led leaders who will impact churches, communities, and the world for Christ.
CCCTS is committed to developing servant leaders who are academically prepared, socially adept, and morally grounded, equipping each student to fulfill the Great Commission.

The Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS) is a voluntary, non-profit, self-governing organization of Christian postsecondary institutions. TRACS is recognized as a national institutional accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) and is a member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). TRACS was established by a group of educators in 1979, the purpose of which was to promote the welfare, interests, and development of quality Christian postsecondary institutions whose mission is characterized by a distinctively Christian orientation. While TRACS encourages each affiliated institution to develop its own distinctive (identity), TRACS expects institutions to provide quality postsecondary education within the context of Christian values, with emphasis on high academic standards, integrity, practical application, and spiritual development.
